This month, we’re spotlighting three Elastic Team community members to celebrate their skills and expertise.
Edwin Maina | Kenya
Edwin Maina is a Software Engineer and Digital Marketer with vast experience in collaborating with small to medium enterprises, aiding them in their growth journey and achievement of goals through the utilization of today's technology. He firmly believes that a successful SaaS platform or startup entails more than just proficient software; it also requires a profound comprehension of the interplay between marketing and customer satisfaction, along with the skill to transform data into informed decisions. Edwin revels in problem-solving and innovation. He is dedicated to evolving into a tech leader of the upcoming generation by contributing efficient and convenient technology to society.
What industries inspire you most?
Having collaborated with numerous businesses, I take great pleasure in spearheading the digital transformation of enterprises, enabling them to embrace current and emerging technologies. Specifically, I possess a keen interest in the real estate and environmental sectors. I firmly believe that while we have a long way to go in constructing sustainable homes and combating climate change, the integration of AI and technology can significantly enhance our efforts.
How do you enjoy your free time ?
During my leisure time, I take pleasure in engaging in a diverse range of activities. Foremost on my list is watching football and Formula 1. Additionally, I derive great enjoyment from watching movies and make it a personal ritual to visit the cinema no less than twice a month. Interacting with friends holds a special place in my heart, particularly when it involves embarking on road trips, engaging in game nights, and relishing good food.
What do you snack on when you’re working on projects?
While I'm working, I take pleasure in consuming fruits, particularly bananas and apples. Additionally, I relish preparing fresh juice on occasion. I strongly believe in the significance of refueling energy and sustaining focus, as an empty stomach simply doesn't suffice.
Olajumoke Mafimisebi | Lagos, Nigeria
Olajumoke Mafimisebi is a delivery-focused IT business analyst and Product owner who is always enthusiastic about new ways of working and keen about meeting new people from different walks of life in both my professional and personal life. Being born and raised in Lagos Nigeria, I’m naturally an optimistic individual with a big can-do attitude and I love to laugh.
What industries inspire you most?
I will say healthcare industry. There’s a saying that health is wealth and the last pandemic (COVID 19) was a really big eye-opener. I’m not sure any Product or Project manager would have captured that in their RAID log not to talk of mitigation strategies. Capital Market is also one that interests me, seeing as people are always looking for ways and ideas to invest and grow their wealth; and I’m sure you’d agree with me that you can’t do much without money.
How do you enjoy your free time ?
Due to the nature of my job as a remote worker, I love to hang out with friends and families and get to visit the latest hangout spot in my city, Lagos. There’s always something interesting to do in Lagos, so I use that as an opportunity to catch up and make new friends. I also love to cook spicy Jollof rice. I mean I’m from Nigeria and we make the best Jollof rice in the world. You can ask around! lol! If I’m not doing any of that, then you’d catch me playing Sudoku or in front of my mirror trying out new clothes.
What do you snack on when you’re working on projects?
If I’m working on a not so challenging project, I love to indulge in ice cream cake to spice up things to a bit interesting one. I also love snacking on cookies and chilled Zobo also known as Hibiscus tea, which is not just delicious, but very healthy. Well, some days are for high calories and some for healthy living, balance it is!
Sabastine Sab-Udeh | Ikeja, Nigeria
What industries inspire you most?
The Industry that inspires me as an Engineer is the Fintech industry (centralized or decentralized a.k.a blockchain). They are alluring because they offer opportunities to work with cutting-edge technologies, innovate in the financial sector, and solve complex challenges such as data security, regulation, and customer experience, changing life as we know it. The second, undoubtedly, is Artificial intelligence. Nowadays, I can't even imagine a world without it.
How do you enjoy your free time ?
In my free time, I usually binge-watch Netflix series or have fun with my buddies on PS5.
What do you snack on when you’re working on projects?
I love snacking on dates with coffee when I’m working.
